About Alpuyeca

Alpuyeca is a town belonging to the municipality of Xochitepec, in the state of Morelos, located in the west side of the state. It is located at 126 km from Mexico City; from Cuernavaca, capital of the state, at only 26 km, and from Xochitepec, head of the municipality, at only 8 km.

Alpuyeca is traditionally a town dedicated to agriculture, where there are plenty of sugar cane and peanut. It is famous for its traditional ice cream, for an increasing commerce, and recently opening its doors to national and international tourism that comes to enjoy its landscapes.

This community possesses the characteristic of being close to several other towns with tourist attractions, like aquatic resorts and colonial constructions, within the same municipality like Atlacholoaya, Real del Puente, Unidad Morelos and the very same city of Xochitepec.

In the surroundings one can find the rivers Tetlama and Apatlaco, with two dams in each one of them; there are streams with a permanent volume of flow like El Sabado, El Tlazala and El Colotepec; or for spending a nice pic nic day, the springs of San Ramon, Pablo Bolero and Real del Puente. All framed by fresh vegetation with an average annual weather of 25°C.

Along the entire municipality there are constructions of historical and cultural importance that date back from the XVI century, time in which the firsts Franciscans arrived to the state and that show temples and other buildings a majectic colonial architecture.

In the city’s downtown is located the Church of Alpuyeca and a small kiosk, in which benches one can enjoy incredible dawns. However, over the highway to Cuernavaca, Pala Bolero Aquatic Resort is one of the main attractions. This resort offers swimming pools, children’s swimming pool, diving pit, cold water springs, illuminated natural grotto, restaurant bar and other services for you to spend a spectacular day.

In the entire region traditional festivities are shared, most of them with religious origins, like the festivities honoring the Three Wise Men, San Bartolo and San Miguel, among other. In these occasions is recommendable to taste the delicious and traditional pork white pozole, fish tamal in corn leaves or the mixote. For a fact, whoever visits Alpuyeca can’t leave without enjoying a delicious ice cream from La Güera, which fame has overpass Mexico’s borders; among several flavors, the most traditional is the lime ice cream.

Alpuyeca is a quaint destination waiting for the tourist to walk its streets, its surrounding resorts and the gorgeous landscapes perfect for a deserved rest. To this destination one can get by Del Sol Highway, which goes all the way to Acapulco.
